War Department
Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands,
Claim Division
Washington, March 20th 1866.

Colonel O Brown.
Asst. Commissioner State Va. Richmond Ca

Col:
I have the honor to enclose receipts for the Discharge and Power of Attorney in the cases of each of the following named men viz.

Levi Henderson. 1st U.S.C. Cavalry.
Joseph Dean. Co. "G" 2nd U.S.C. Cavalry.
Albert Washington. 1st U.S.C. Cavalry.
Thomas Taylor. Co. "H" 1st U.S.C. Cavalry.

These men would have been entitled under the President's call for 500,000 Volunteers July 18th 1864 to $300. Bounty, provided they had served three years. But as they were not discharged by reason of expiration of term of service, or on account of wounds, they are entitled only to the installment which fell due during the time they were in the service. They should have received $100 (the first installment) in being mustered into service.
If they failed to receive that, we can collect it for them.
