Thursday morning March 22d 1866.

Dear Genl.

After I put the Wafer in the Enclosed and it had dried, it occurred to my mind that I had omitted to mention one as appears to me important subject. I hear from every quarter around me that the freed Negros who left their owners during the War are returning and assert that they have a right to the Lands and Houses of their former owners, if so, we their old owners become their slaves unless we can have and get shelter elsewhere! Please advise what we are to do, if they come and demand possession. Those who were mine and are here now, since this report has reached them are much more presuming than they have been previously — Yours with
all Respect
B. E. Harrison
