Col. O. Brown
Bureau Freedmen &c
Richmond, Va

Sir
The undersigned respectfully ask to be restored the possession of a lot of land on Main Street in the town of Hampton, County of Elizabeth City and State of Virginia. In common with most persons living here in the Spring of 1861 they left their Homes because of its proximity to the two contending Armies and returned to the same when they could do so with safety The said lot is now occupied by a family of Freedmen Should the same be restored any reasonable arrangement will be made with them

Very Respectfully
Eliza Watts (widow)

Thomas Watts
