if those estates are held by an agent of the Government, as if held by Mr Blackstone; and the rents and other interests accruing. from them, would in such case be in the hands of the Government agent, until some final disposition is made of them; but by giving them into the possession of Mr Blackstone who was appointed an agent by the owners of the estates, it seems to us would be virtually yielding all control of the Government over them.

It may have been claimed that the creditors are loyal, because they have taken the oath of allegiance to the Government, but the loyal men of Va know that the oath's of allegiance have been taken in a majority of cases at least, more for the protection of their interests, than an honest intention of becoming loyal citizens.
