540 War Department, Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands, Washington, July 3rd 1866. Maj. Genl A. H. Terry, Asst. Com'r. B.R.F. & A. Lands. State of Virginia. Richmond, Va. General, I have the honor to return enclosed declaration in the claim of James Thompson, for bounty. By an arrangement of a recent date, the claims of colored soldiers for arrears of pay, bounty, &c. will hereafter be adjusted at the 2d Auditors office. As the Notary Public, before whom the enclosed declaration was executed, has not filed his commission or certified copy thereof in that department, his seal and signature must be verified by the certificate of the Clerk of a Court of Record.
