Bureau of Refugees, Freedman, and Abandoned Lands,
Office of Assistant Quartermaster, Fifth District, Va.
Fort Monroe, Va. July 26 1866

Bvt. Brig. Genl. O. Brown
Bureau R.F. and A.L. Richmond

General
By direction of the Asst. Comr. I have receipted to Capt. W. P. Austin Supt 1st Dist Va. for Sixty (60) cords wood in Accomac Co. I find this wood is piled in the woods where it was cut, a great distance from any settlement, and where it is likely to be stolen. As it would not pay to remove said wood to any point where the Bureau could use it. I have the honor to ask for permission to sell it to the highest bidder.

Very Respectfully
Your
Ob't Serv't
Thos. G, Wytal
Capt. A.Q.M.
