Your order, (special No. 106) relieving Capt. W. F. White from duty at this station having been received, the undersigned beg leave, most respectfully, to request that the order may be countermanded, if not incompatible with the interests of the service.

Capt. White is acquainted with the people and business here, is universally respected and, though we know nothing of the officer who is to succeed him, we are sure, no one can give more general satisfaction to all classes than he as a gentleman and an officer.
