I would not imply might against any man that I cannot prove, yet I must express my belief that the men themselves are not as responsible for the statements they have made as much as those who incited them to it, there are [[strikethrough]] C [[/strikethrough]] other Claim agents here who requested me to sell goods to their men, of whose connections I knew nothing, and whose orders I have consequently refused to receipt, As many of the men have given their claims to Mr. Brown who otherwise might have taken them to other Agents I have strong reasons to fear that this statements have been to injure me and through me Mr. Brown -

I am very glad and greatly obliged to you Sir: for giving me this opportunity of explaining the whole matter to you as it realy is, though I regret very much to have been obliged to make the statement such a lengthy one and thereby occupying so much of your valuable time in reading it. My reason is that I have felt it my duty in justice to myself to make you this detailed statement, assuring you of my highest regards I am dear Sir Very respectfully
