Genl,

I would respectfully call attention to my application 11th inst. for "school rooms" for the Soldiers Memorial Society of Boston.

I beg leave to state that this Society does not confine itself to a distinctively "white" or "colored" work. No child is, or has ever been excluded from its schools either "literary" or "industrial" on account of color. In its "industrial" schools a mixed work in each particular call has been possible. Its "literary" schools" assume characteristic color according to local circumstances and surroundings. Thus in Richmond where very full provision has been made by other Societies for the education of colored children our schools have made themselves almost entirely "white," while in Manchester we have all "colored" children with a colored Teacher.
