General,
I am directed by Maj. Genl. O.O. Howard, Comm'r. to request that you will instruct the Superintendent of this Bureau at Fort Monroe, Va. to be present at the muster out at that post of two regiments of colored troops.  Nos. of organizations unknown - with the view to securing for prosecution by the Bureau, any claims for pay, bounty, etc the men may have against the Government. The regiments are - as this office has been informed - now at Fort Monroe.

The Maj. Genl. Com'r. desires, that you give this matter your earliest attention.
