K 1st U.S.C.C. doth depose and say, that at Newport News Va., on or about the 13th day of August 1864, I deposited in the hands of Lieut Allen (now a Captain in the 36th U.S. C.T.)) A.D.C. to Brig. Genl E.A. Wild, in the presence of Genl Wild and Captain W.N. Wild, the sum of $300.00 in U.S. Currency, to be sent to Norfolk Va to the care of Capt. O. Brown, to be deposited in the "Norfolk Savings Bank" - that Lieut Allen counted the money, put it in an envelope, sealed it and pigeon-holed it - that I asked him for a receipt, that Lieut Allen, said I did not require one, that a bank book would be given me soon. - that I have never received a book, or receipt, that I have called at the "Norfolk Savings Bank", and find that there has never been any money placed therein to my credit.
