This Indenture made this 10th day February 1860 between E. J. W. Reed. Overseer of the poor of the County of Accomac of the one part and Joseph Waterfield of Said County farmer of the other part Witnesseth: That the Said  E. J. W. Reed overseer of the poor as aforesaid acting with the allowance & approbation of the County Court of Accomac County & in pursuence of an order of Said Court to that effect made & entered on the 26th day of September 1859, have Put & bound & by these presents do put & bind John Beveans (Free Negro) of Said County who was on the day of above order eight years ten months & five days old as an apprentice to Joseph Waterfield to learn the trade business & art of a Farmer and with him to dwell & remain until he the said John Bevans Shall attain his full age of twenty one years, during all which time he the said John Bevans. his master Shall faithfully Serve & obey & his Secrets keep & his lawful commands willingly do & perform & Shall not absent himself from the Service of his Said master day or night without his permission but Shall in all things as a faithful apprentice behave himself towards his master & all his family during the Said term.  And the said Joseph Waterfield in consideration of the faithful Services to be performed by the said John Bevans doth hereby covenant promise & agree with the said overseer and his successors in office that he the said Joseph Waterfield his said apprentice in the trade & mystery of a farmer which
