Schools are much needed at Wytheville, Marion, and Jeffersonville, at which places a considerable aid would be furnished by the citizens if Teachers could be procured. At Wytheville an appropriation of ($400.) dollars has been made by the Bureau for a school house and by the cooperation of the citizens mostly Colored a house will be erected costing from 1200 to 1400 dollars. At Speedwell Wythe Co. a house is being erected by Whites and Colored conjointly without aid from the Bureau. For the latter a teacher is much wanted.

In his manner of transacting business he is prompt energetic and gives good satisfaction. The records are in fair condition. 
The general condition of the Freedpeople is good They are peaceable and industrious and obtain for wages for males from 10 to 12 dollars per Month, and for Females from 3 to 5 dollars.
