No complaints of injustice from the courts

A marriage Register is kept as required by Cir. No. 11, Series 1866. The four paragraphs of said Cir are complied with as required.

Provision is made for the support of the indigent of both colors alike and the means are sufficient.

The demand and supply for labor are about equal

Schools  This Sub. Division has not had as good school advantages as the other Sub. Division. They employed a Teacher from  the citizens who was of low and disreputable character and whose only object was to secure the money of the Freedmen. He gained their confidence and was intrusted with from 300 to 400 dollars with which he left and his whereabouts is not known. The result is a less interest taken in schools in Roanoke Co. than in any other county while appearances would indicate more ability among the colored people. In this county are needed one or more good efficient and faithful teachers  A Teacher is also needed in Floyd Co.
