he taking but little notice, of the summons soon after, upon moving away private "Brennan" took deliberate aim and fired at him, the ball entering his left side passing through the body and arm, inflicting a wound from which he died in about an hour.

Upon the Coroner being notified a jury had was summoned, who after hearing the testimoney of several witnesses, agreed upon the following Verdict

"The deceased came by his death, by violence having been killed by a musket fired in the hands of private John Brennan while on duty at Libby Prison"

Yesterday Morning a demand was made by the Mayor upon the Commanding Officer at Libby Prison for the body of the prisoner then in custody of the Military Authorities. The above demand was promptly complied with, and the accused by him was remanded
