Office Asst Supt Freedmen Princess Anne &c Norfolk, Dec 18th, 1865 Respectfully [[strikethrough]] for [[/strikethrough]] returned to Capt A S Flagg AQM Supt &c. A prior application, for amt of pay due (One hundred & Eighty dollars), was forwarded by me, and returned October 14./65 with the following endorsement from Capt Flagg AQM &c Viz. "From the accts of the auditor of affairs of the Dept on Eastern Shore it appears that no pay is due to applicant." Mr. Bartlett was engaged by Col. Kinsman a Supt of Mills and left Norfolk for E. Shore June 22 1864. I have set to Mr Bartlett his Power of Atty - Your Obdt Servt Thos P Jackson Asst Supt EB"B" F. 30. Office Supt 1st Dist Va. Norfolk Va Dec. 21st. 1865 Respectfully returned to Col O S Brown Asst Comr &c. The account of Mr. Butlett may be a just one but it is not show by F. H Smiths Acct Auditor of Accts. "Negro Dept". Eastern Shore If allowed it should be paid from the Civil Fund A. S. Flagg 12.21.65 B.F. 143
