About the year 1847 at the request of Harriet Banks, I qualified before the County Court of Stafford Va. as the Guardian of her three children. Lucy Ann, James Edward and Elias Henry Banks, infants of tender years. The Court instructed me to pay her annually for the support of her children over and above the accruing Interest dollars. The time when such payment would cease and the amount be paid to her is not precisely recollected and I have no means to ascertain the records of the Court having been destroyed. The only money that ever came into my hands belonging to them was the sum of One hundred and ninety five dollars on the 10th of January 1848 rec'd from Wm F. Moore

I paid Clerks fees &c amounting to one dollar and seventy five cents on Dec. 10th 1847. I paid to Harriett Banks the sum of ten dollars, on July 9th 1849. I paid to the said Harriet the sum of Twenty dollars, on the 15th day of May 1850. I paid to the said Harriet the sum of fifteen dollars and fifty cents and on the 14th day of May 1851 I paid to the said Harriet the sum of ten dollars.

About this time the said Harriett took her said Children to the state of Pennsylvania and I am informed that two of her children Lucy Ann and Elias Henry have departed this life.
