Dear Sir,

Delsy Brooks has long ago been informed of the whereabouts of her daughter both by myself and others.  She knows that immediately after the close of the war I requested her acknowledged father to take possession of her which he did, and she has been in his possession ever since -

If however you deem it proper to communicate with her father upon the subject, you may say to her that, She Arm Elizabeth is now and has been all the while, since her freedom in the possession of her father, of Spottsylvania Co. Va.  Dilsey Brooks is the most notoriously degraded person it was ever my misfortune to have
