Statements, and Report of Board appointed by Bvt. Brig. Gen'l. O. Brown. Ass't. Comm'r, of Va, regarding the within claim of the "Chesapeake Female College" against the Bureau of R.F. & A.L. for one half rent, due the loyal owners thereof, of whom Hon Benj. F. Butler, is one.

Bv't Lt. Col. Tho's. G. Whytal, A.Q.M. of Fort Monroe, Va. states:-
That he occupied six rooms in said building from June 1st 1866. to Aug 31"/66. no longer. That he was an Officer assigned to duty in the Bureau, had no quarters for himself or family, and did not draw computation of the same, that during the whole of the period charged for, one half of the building was vacant and under the direct control of Mr Raymond. When he spoke with Mr Raymond about living therein, the latter stated that Col Whytal had a perfect right to occupy apart, as he held one half of it by order of the Maj Gen'l, Comd'g, Sub. Dist. of Fort Monroe. 

Cha's. A. Raymond states: that in the Fall of 1865, by order of Gen'l Miles, then Comd'g Sub Dis't. of Fort Monroe, turned the Building over in substance as follows: one undivided half to Cha's. A. Raymond, for benefit of himself and of the loyal owners he represents, and one undivided half to Capt Flagg, A.Q.M. for benefit of the Bureau R.F. & A.L.    In April 1866, Capt Whytal called on him, and proposed by virtue of his office to occupy said College Building. He (Mr R_)replied in writing that neither of the parties in possession had any
