I have the honor respectfully to request that Mr Joel R Spahr be appointed to fill a clerkship in this office vacant by the resignation of Mr [[Rawdon?]]

Mr Spahr is an ex officer of Vols having served three years with distinction in the 1st Regt Pa Bucktails, and was severely wounded at the battle of Gettysburg Pa. I can cheerfully bear testimony to his high official and moral character.
