It is a difficult thing to to make the former Slave understand, that a matter in which he was educated to believe was right in the days of his slavery — is now wrong, when he becomes a freed person, and open Adultery is too often practiced even among the better class of those, once found in Slavery. How can we cure this great Sin is a question, I am unable to answer.

The subject of Schools is one of the greatest importance in 
the future of the freed people. For in education alone are we to expect, that moral strata so vital to any free Country. I cannot too strongly recommend this subject,— recommend that and be given in the establishment of Schools at places, where parties are unable to help themselves. In the County of King William this subject has been neglected, but, I am glad to report that the people are beginning to stir in the matter, and three Schools are now expected
