S.C. Armstrong
Agent - 5th Sub Dist.,Va.

Sir
In obedience with endorsement in the within communication of J.S. Backus Cor. Secty Am. Bapt. H.M. Society, I have the honor to respond that to put the house in a safe condition will require an expense in material and labor of Four hundred dollars ($400) This is a low estimate, and the necessary repairs would amount to more but for some assistance from the society. This includes repairs of the foundations, new sleepers and floors the timbers of which are all very much decayed and repainting the windows.

There are other repairs that the society wish to make but are not in a condition to do so
