General.
I have the honor to state, that whilst employed in the Freedmens Bureau under the supervision of Capt R.S. Lacy, in the year 1866; under general instructions, Supervised also, by a Board, there was bound to Mr. J. W. Bradshaw a citizen of this place; a certain colored girl, by and with the consent of its mother (reputed) until said child should reach its 18th year, to have and to receive all of the Benefits accruing under the Indenture herewith enclosed. I have to state that this child was never owned by said Bradshaw, but was raised as tenderly in his family as were his own children, and that she begged and entreated to remain with him, but in
