Farmville Va Dec 2nd 1867.
Respectfully returned to Bvt Brig Genl O Brown with the information, that I investigated the case named within, and found the petitioner was entitled to the possession of this horse - I also found that he was indolent and dishonest, and the day the horse was delivered to me, by Mr Gilliam attempted to sell him for $40. By reason of these facts I demanded security to the effect that he would retain in his possession and safely keep said horse until orders were given by proper authority for its final disposition - Bluford failed to porduce the security called for - unless the party could have control of the horse. I then made an arrangement by which Burton was to go on Blufords Bond until Bluford could get some one to take Burtons place, and let him (the funds) to do, and Burton has the horse now. another Bluford's action
