This day Mary [[Spangler?]] and Sarah C. Cornell appeared before me a Justice of the Peace in and for the County of Montgomery and made oath: that some time in September or October of 1865, pursuant to an order made by Col. Randal Rice, Col. Commanding at Christiansburg, in Montgomery they delivered at Christiansburg to the Provost Marshall a grey horse branded on the shoulder (U.S.) which horse had been in the care and custody of Solomon Spangler from about the day of June 1865; the said horse having been broken down and
