Respectfully returned, with report. That Hannah Carter, the girl whose mother makes the within request, is now living with Mr John Harding, and is, from her own statements and that of others living in the same family, well treated in every respect. She desires to remain with them. The only advantage, that would accrue to her, from living with her Mother would be, an educational one, there being no schools in the District in which Mr Harding resides.

Pyramus Gutt, (Col'd.) who is given as authority for the statement of her ill treatment, (and who is a reliable man,) denies making any such statement.
