(Mr. Book has no claim to the house on his land). It will be remembered, you immediately called a meeting of his tenants, and dictated terms by which the land should be leased accepting his propositions to leave, but allowing all to remain who would pass their arrearages, within ten days, but changing the terms to five dollar for one and one quarter acre of land, without the privilege of getting firewood.(a copy of these terms were forwarded at the time, with a report of the case) 

By this means (74) seventy four tenants remained, who paid their arrearages, and first quarter rent, amounting to (441 27/100)four hundred and forty one 27/100 Dollars. This money was paid over to Mr. Book, who gave a separate receipt to each tenant, for the first quarter rent, one of whom paid for the entire year (a copy of his receipt is included) after receiving this money and giving his receipts, it appears he files this "protest". 

After he had received the terms as modified by you, and when he had forwarded his final terms, [[?]]: $12 for 1/3 of an acre, he stated to me, that he would allow tenants to lease for $10 per 1 1/4 acre with wood, but I had received my final order from you, and was not at liberty to deviate from them, and so stated to him at that time
