of asking you importunately and urgently for a guard for my person- my family and my property. For five nights in succession, ending this morning, May 18, the day has alarmed us. and from tracks we know mischievous persons were about. This shows that evil is intended, and that the terrible threats against us are to be carried out- I also ask for a military commission, above the power of money to bribe thieves - to try Pucket for his crime and award such punishment as the laws of the land require. I also ask the same power to hear and determine- what ought to be civil suits under ordinary circumstances. Those debts due us, which we are now in suffering need of. - Also to hear and determine my claim against the county court of Chesterfield - or several individuals of that court, for the immense damage done me - which they procured to be done.

I also know several other instances of gross oppression of poor citizens, white and colored, the particulars of which I can make known if desired.
