General-
I shall be greatly obliged if you can procure for me through Cap't D.J. Connolly [[strikethrough]] the pr [[/strikethrough]] some person who was present at the trial of the case of Price vs Armistead before the magistrate  A.R. Neal and who knows of their own knowledge that the said Neal refused to hear negro testimony in the trial of the said case.

I would suggest either Hector Stokes or John Stanles, the parties whose evidence was refused though any person who personally knows the facts will answer.

I hope that [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] you will [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] attend to this as soon a convenient as I  consider it important that this class of case should be brought up as speedily as possible.

Capt D.J. Connolly is stationed at Burkville, Lunenburg Co Va.
