War Department
Bureau R.F and A. Lands
Washington, Sept 1st/66

Mrs William Taylor,
Fairfax C.H.
The letter presented by you from Senator Dulaney and other evidence produced of the case and attention received by the little colored girl in your possession, induces me to say that you may hold her in your possession till her mother calls for her in person, and produces authority from this Office for taking her away. This is rendered necessary to prevent the girl from being brought to this city and thrown upon the case of the government by irresponsible persons
