General:

We desire to call your attention to an outrage upon one of our teachers and to that end have asked him to make a full statement of the case to you.

Rev. Mr. Cardozo is a christian gentleman — a native of Charleston S.C. — a graduate of the Glasgow University of Scotland and the Theological Seminary of London. He was returning to Charleston under our Commission as the Principal of our Normal School in that city.

I have encouraged Mr. C. in his natural and just desire for a vindication of his rights, and have advised him to ask your opinion as to the best method of proceeding. Whatever aid you may be able to render
