Esteemed Friend
General Schofield,

Wishing to close the bargain with the owners of the land upon which the School and Mission House here stand in a few days; I am anxious to know the price the Government has put on them.

I may again inform thee, that the cost of the Buildings will be taken from funds available for the payment of teachers, which are at present so much exhausted that we have had to abandon Six Schools in North Carolina.
Awaiting thy reply
Believe me

Thy Sincere Friend
George Dixon
Superintendent of Philadelphia Friends' Freedman's Schools in North Carolina and at Danville Virginia.
