and that there were three hundred and eleven (311.) less under treatment on the 30th of June than on the 31st of May. Thus showing a decided improved sanitary condition during the month of June. This improvement was more marked during the latter part of the month.

The table above also shows that there was an increase of deaths, of fourteen (14.) in the month of June. Very many of these deaths were the result of protracted chronic diseases and a very considerable number from old age. On the whole, the sanitary condition of Freedmen in the Dist. of Va. is decidedly improving, as also their personal condition and comfort. 

The number of Orphans under the charge of the Bureau Dist. of Va. May 31st 1867, was 202.
The number on the 30" of June, was 182.
showing a decrease during the month of 20.

It is expected that this number will be decreased to a still more marked extent at a very early day; by the securing of homes, for such of those as are of sufficient age to be acceptable to those, seeking to give homes to Orphans.

The Insane freedmen, and women, under the charge of the Bureau, are all located in a ward, prepared for their use, in Howard Grove Hospital, at Richmond Va.
