I have the honor to present the following statement of the sanitary condition of Freedmen in Dist. of Va. during the month of August 1867, viz.

Number remaining under care Med. Officers Bureau 
July 31st 1867. 1,349.
Number recd. care of Bureau in Aug. 1867. 2,877
Total under care of Bureau during month Aug. 1867. 4 226.
Number "Discharged" during month Aug. 1867. 2 932.
Number "Died" during month Aug. 1867. 88.
Number remaining under care Med Offrs Aug. 31st 1867. 1 206.
Total number Discharged and died in Aug. 1867. 4 226

It will be seen from the above, that there were one hundred and forty three (143.) persons less under charge of Medical Officers of Bureau Aug. 31st. 1867. than July 31st 1867.  Notwithstanding that August is generally considered a sickly month.  No form of epidemic desease has prevailed among freedmen during the month.
