My Brother writes me that it is easy for the officer of the Bureau to procure suitable accommodation, without ruining my house and grounds, which are now in a sad condition from reckless misuse.

This property is mine — I am the wife of a Union officer — and a refugee during the war — I claim your protection, and your immediate action in this matter, on the grounds of my own loyalty and that of my husband Cap FitzGerald, who was four years in our army.

I desire possession of my house to save it from ruin — which was the last order of the court, thus recognizing my right and
