Wilbraham May 18th 1867
General:
I have the honor to enclose to you a copy of a letter this day received from the office of the Q.M. Genl. You will perceive that he takes exceptions to my taking up the property you transferred to me as Quarter Masters property and accounting for it to his department. This is now the thrice letter he has caused to be written me an the same subject two of which I have answered explaining to him how it came to be regarded as Qm property and was so accounted for in that Dept. I stated to him in my last letter that you transferred to me this corn and lumber as Quarter Master property - that it was the product of labor paid for on Quarter Masters Payrolls some of which you had paid and the balance you transferred as pay due which I paid out of Q.m. Funds - thus the corn & lumber  (over)
