suppose that she should obtain the transportation. On going again after a fortnight or so, she was told that the letter was lost, and she must write another, and get another answer. I wrote another, to which there has been no answer yet. She came to me this morning, and said that a cousin was going on Saturday, who would take care of her, and her children, if she had the means. I sent her again to the office, and she returned, saying that they doubted her ever having had a letter. I give you my word that she had a letter, which passed through my hands, and which in my judgment, should be satisfactory, as to her prospect of employment in the country.
