When the officers of the Law here sent fearing that it might lead to something more devious, ordered the colored persons to disburse, put here a misapprehension and in the minds of the accused as to whether or not one of the person claiming to exercise the functions of a magistrate was indeed such, but on being found that he was immediately obliging the order left the premises.  

there were no weapons or arms of any description found on any of the parties., except that a pistol was found in the possession of Robert Johnson which pistol he had that very day purchased from a white man, and made no effort to conceal either the purchase or the weapon.  The purchase was made long previous to any disturbance. Now I respectfully submit that the assembly was a lawful one; it was at a sale publicly advertised &c &c and at which these colored men had a right to attend.  that there was no riot or route for none occurred.  nor was there any evidence going to show, that any such proceedings were initiated by any of the parties concerned.
