of the vicinity of Danville had 3 orphan freed children bound to him, & the following winter the grandmother applied to Capt. Wilcox for their release - he sent by this woman an order for their release only in case he had no Indentures, by which to hold them - & if he had to bring them to him, that their validity might be tested - that was done, & Capt. Wilcox gave Dr. Burton an order to retain the children in his service, in accordance with the Indentures, which he pronounced valid & binding upon both parties - which applied to my case as well as his - as our apprentices were alive - orphans, bound the same day & by the same person. You will please answer at your earliest convenience & enclose your reply to Mr. Tom M Moseley of Danville Va. 

As Mr. Moseley was present & heard what transpired between Col Carse & myself, I beg leave to refer you to him to say whether I have made a full & fair statement & whether my statements are reliable.
