To The Hon. R.C.L. Moncure Judge of the District Court of Appeals for the Fourth District of Virginia

The petition of R. B. Howison respectfully represents that he is aggrieved by a final judgment of the Circuit Court of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Sitting in Alexandria County rendered at the Nov. term thereof in 1866 in an action in detinue wherein Richard P. Lacy was Ptff & R. B. Howison your petitioner was defendant  A transcript of the record is herewith presented 

Your petitioner assigns the following errors in the said judgment

First The verdict is against the evidence 

Second There is no evidence to support the verdict

Third The rule of damages upon which such verdict was based is an improper one 

Fourth The property having been sold to the ptff by the Govt. & having been in the Govt. the deft. had no claim upon the ptff. 

For the Said errors your petitioner prays a writ of Supersedeas to the judgment aforesaid
