County of Washington}  To wit

Personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace in and for said County, R B. Harrison. Who being duly sworn depose and says, that he knew the mare purchased by himself from William Mackey in the year AD 1862 shortly after she was purchased by said Mackey, and when he first saw said mare she was branded (U.S., and marked with the letter (C), that he saw her with a Colt following her before he purchased the said mare from William Mackey, that he purchased said mare in the month of December AD 1864. and knows that she is the Identical mare owned by William Mackey in AD 1862., that the said mare was in the city of Washington DC from AD 1862 until she was seized by the authorities of Alexandria Virginia on the complaint of the said Richard P. Lacey. Claimant who says he lost said mare in 1863. in the month of July. at the time said mare was seized She was being drove by Mr J.C. Kelly of Washington D.C. and was legally his the said R B Harrison property
