Your letter of the 24th inst., asking if I will remain as a civilian agent after my muster out of service on the 1st. Prox., has been received.

In reply, I have the honor to state that I shall be pleased to accept such appointment, and shall feel myself under many obligations to you for your intercessions in my behalf.
