Sarah Vaughn (Colored) wife of Solomon Vaughn being duly sworn in reference to the enclosed report says, That on the 26th of December 1866 she was informed by Mr Thomas P Jackson of P.A. Co. that he had received a letter from Richmond stating that her husband and son had been pardoned, that the letter was dated Dec 22nd 1866, that Mr Jackson wrote a letter to that effect, to the Sheriff of the co, stating that he was informed that a letter had been addressed to him and the jailer of the above name Co containing a pardon from the Governor of the state for Jesse and Solomon Vaughn, that she carried the letter and gave it to the sheriff, and he carried it to the jail, and read it to her husband and that she requested him to let her husband and son go, and that he informed her that it was not official (the letter) but he would probably get it in a few days and he would let him go. And that before going upstairs to her husband and son the sheriff read the letter to the Jailer Mr Joseph Chapman
