Exhibit A.

At a Circuit Court continued and held for Princess Anne County the 26th day of September 1866.

The Commonwealth}   on an Indictment for
against}            a misdemeanor.
Jesse Vaughan and Solomon Vaughan}

Jesse Vaughan and Solomon Vaughan late of the County of Princess Anne, who stand indicted of a misdemeanor, in stealing goods and chattels of less value than twenty dollars, were set to the bar in custody of the jailor of this Court and pleaded 'not guilty' to the indictment whereupon came a jury, to wit; Ira V. Capps, W. T. Harrison, John A. Shipp, Joshua S. Feutrep,  H. M. Hunter, John Gornto, E. W. Ives, John Shepherd, James E. Petree, John W. S. Saud, Albert S. White and Moses J. Eaton who being elected, tried and sworn, the truth to speak when the issue joined. and having heard the evidence, upon their oaths do say, that the said Jesse Vaughan and Solomon Vaughan are guilty of the misdemeanor in manner and form as in the said Indictment against them is alleged, and they do ascertain the term of the imprisonment in the jail of the said County to be five months each: and the Court doth direct that the prisoners Jesse Vaughan and Solomon Vaughan receive on their bare back each twenty lashes, which the Sheriff of this County is directed to cause to be inflicted upon them at some convenient time during their imprisonment, and thereupon the said Jesse Vaughan and Solomon Vaughan are remanded to jail.
