Exhibit B Wise Farm P.A. Co. Va. February 18th 1867 Capt Wm P Austin Supt R.F. and A.L. First Dist of Va Sir I have the honor to report that I called upon the parties as required in communication of 24th of January 1867, which is enclosed, and have to state, that I found the Sheriff much engaged with his official duties, I stated to him my business, and he informed me that he could not then attend to the same properly, but if I would put in writing, such questions as I desired him to answer, he would reply to the same, in the same manner, and would attend to it promptly. I then wrote out such questions as I thought would cover those in Capt Mallerys communication and he replied as enclosed. The County Clerk (Mr JJ Burroughs) states to me that a letter supposed to contain the Pardon of Jesse and Solomon Vaughn, was received at his office January 5th 1867, but who left it there he is unable to tell, as on the same day they were having a [[absends?]] and he was very much engaged, and did not notice who left the mail that day, probably some market-man, he delivered the letter to Jailers wife on same day.
