Bureau Refugees Freedmen, and A. Lands,
Office Superintendent, 6th District, Va
Fredericksburg, Va. January 17th 1867

Bvt. Brig. Genl. O. Brown,
Bureau R.F. and A.L.
Richmond, Va.
General,
I have the honor to enclose herewith Telegraph received on Monday just as the mail was about closing.
In my haste to forward my application for leave on that day I omitted to sign it.
Inasmuch as I cannot get home in time for the funeral - and the month being far spent - I have concluded not to make application before next month, at which time I trust it may meet your pleasure to grant me one.
The object of this communication is merely to explain my position.
Very respectfully,
