After a while when the altercation between Dudley & Lewis Jones became more loud and boisterous, William Glasgo (colored) came out the cellar where he was selling liquor, and persuaded the said Jones to go away with him Glasgow, which Jones did.

Then Glasgo came back alone and made use of the expression, that "one man could not kill every body," upon which Dudley said "what do you say, you dam black son of a bitch", and sprung from his horse and pitched after the negro, who now ran into the cellar to escape from him. The negro came out soon with a demijohn in his hand, and had some more difficulty with the whites and getting away from them he went over to the house where the sale was.

I did not see any more of the affray. I saw negroes congregated near the house between its porch and its kitchen I saw a colored man whom
