at all, much less a Constable. That they all thought this pursuing posse of Whites, to be after them for another fight. That Corbin did not shoot at all. That they told him to do so but he did not. That some white men told Corbin to put his pistol up, and he did so. Then the whites endeavored to divest him of it. That Corbin did not take out his pistol again, until near a creek, which they all were to cross, when he showed his pistol to them, and a white man, who was at the creek, and all the chambers at the cylinder of the revolver were filled with loads. Several White men testified before the Court, that they had known Corbin for years before the late war, and that his character was good,-never known to be vicious.

This Corbin has just returned from the army in which he has served three years.
