cellar. William McCarty, bought 1/2 pint of Whisky, and the 4 drank it up. They appeared to have been drinking pretty freely before they came in. Then Madison Morgan, bought another half pint and the same 4 drank that up. Then Hamilton Dudley bought another 1/2 pint and these four with another man who had just came in drank that up. Then Wm McCarty, bought another half pint and they drank that up. Then they went out upon the ground and Dudley mounted his horse, and Harding also. Dudley began to urge [[strikethrough]] a ca [[/strikethrough]] his horse to kick a colored man named Lewis Jones, who was standing outside. Lewis Jones, seemed afraid that the horse would kick him, and picked up a carriage pole lying on the ground, with which to defend himself against the horses heels. Dudley was calling Lewis Jones a "damn black son-of-a-bitch". I told Lewis to go away, that I did not want any fuss there. Lewis then went off. I then went back to the cellar. Then Dudley came up to the cellar and commenced to curse me, and calling me everything he could think of. I made no reply.
