answer I received was "that not a juror had heard of these cases of assault." There has been but one white person presented by the Grand Jury for assaulting a Freedman in fourteen months, and when I make inquiry as to the reasons why the answer is that the Jury has not heard of any such cases.
Hereafter when offenses are committed against a colored person I shall see that such colored person makes his complaint to the Commonwealths Atty.
